The Dutch government has the target to install 6000 MW before 2020, which should be 20% of the energy use.
This means that in the Netherlands 1200 turbines of 5 MW should be installed, at the moment 230 MW is installed...
These turbines are around 100 meters high with rotor blades of 60 meter!
Ing. Jan. R. Hogervorst claims that the vision to fill the Noordzee with huge wind turbine farms ...

The investment costs of an offshore wind fields are high. Besides the investment costs these fields have to be maintained and eventually removed. At the moment it is not financially attractive for companies to build offshore wind fields without the government grants. Off course companies are inventing creative ideas to lower these costs.

The conversion from kinetic to electric energy will happen on a central platform. Hence
the cable to the shore can be plugged in directly to the power grid.
Instead of a generator on each single windmill, place a generator on a central platform, where kinetic energy produced by windmills will be converted to electric energy. Taking away the generator on top of each windmill will reduce the ...
