Currently the offshore wind industry is still fully developing and growing. The biggest challenge is not to make offshore wind competitive in itself, but mainly to make the concept competitive with other sources of energy.
To do so the industry still has to grow and mature. Left with many questions and challenges this should be done throughout the complete value chain. Energy companies, contractors, suppliers, should all contribute to make the industry more competitive.
It is now that it is essential to ensure that everyone involved be it individuals or companies, share their ideas, questions and hopes. To quote George Bernard Shaw: If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange apples then you and I will still each have one apple.
But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas;
Lets make the pie bigger so that in the end everybody has a larger piece. Lets hope the platform www.offshorewindenergy.nl is a first step.
