The investment costs of an offshore wind fields are high. Besides the investment costs these fields have to be maintained and eventually removed. At the moment it is not financially attractive for companies to build offshore wind fields without the government grants. Off course companies are inventing creative ideas to lower these costs.
25% Of the investment costs are the installation costs. These costs consist mainly of the high costs for the installation vessel. To bring these costs considerably down it is logical to assume installation concepts have to be created without the use of installation vessels.
